CHEERS! New Year’s EveSydney
To celebrate New Year’s Eve 2021, NSW Government opened the Cahill expressway to frontline workers to say thankyou for keeping NSW safe throughout the pandemic.
AGB Events curated a special concert of headline performers to celebrate and thank our frontline workers and their guests. Featuring Jimmy Barnes and Delta Goodrem, iconic Australian performers who have consistently shown unwavering support and acknowledgement of frontline workers during the pandemic, this spectacular occasion also incorporated a very special initiative that was broadcast nationally on ABC.
The Blue Moment – Cheers!
At 10pm, the crescendo of the performance, Sydney became awash in blue – the recognised colour of our health care workers. Iconic landmarks, and vessels participating in the New Years Eve Harbour ‘Lights On’ parade, were lit up in blue to acknowledge front-line workers and encourage the audience and viewers to say CHEERS! thanking them for their service and efforts during the pandemic.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge pylons, together with the exterior of the AMP Building were a canvas for projections of images of the frontline workers, specifically curated with contributions from government departments, hospitals, media outlets and the audience themselves.
And as an absolute highlight, the St Vincent’s Choir joined Delta Goodrem on stage on the Cahill expressway to perform ‘Together we are one’.
