Art up – SkyShowSydney
Bringing art to the skies over Woolloomooloo Bay between 3 to 11 December 2022, the Art Up SkyShow effortlessly blended art and technology in a new form of expression. It expanded the impact of art beyond the walls of the Art Gallery of NSW and was an exciting feature of the gallery’s opening celebrations.
Featuring a unique collaboration with renowned artist Reko Rennie, 400 drones animated beautiful artworks set to a bespoke soundtrack. The SkyShow pays homage to the past present and future and the history of our country in relation to First Nations people.
AGB Events produced the Sky Art based on Reko Rennie’s commanding artworks. The show is thoughtfully set to an instrumental soundtrack composed by Deborah Cheetham AO.
Reko Rennie, a Kamilaroi man and prolific creator of contemporary art, has curated the Sky Art. It comprises some of his famous works and includes Regalia (2015) and No sleep till Dreamtime (2014), which are both housed in the Art Gallery of NSW.
The soundtrack for the Sky Art is an instrumental piece of music composed by Professor Deborah Cheetham AO, Yorta Yorta woman, soprano and composer. The piece is titled Bungaree. It was originally composed for the Flinders Quartet and edited to accompany the SkyShow.
